We went to New Mexico a couple of weeks ago--Aaron was working and I thought it would be fun to visit friends. Well, I quickly discovered that vacation as a single parent is NOT a vacation. We did have some fun though! While we were there, I got my official children's photograper (whom we have yet to replace after we moved 2 years ago) to snap some photos at the park. Thanks Jen! I do know that the number of photos per child is slightly out of balance, but you have to know that the only way to get a genuine looking smile out of our sweet Gideon was to have him belch. He thinks that is pretty funny--if only the pictures had sound effects--the above was right after his proudest belch of all.

Everyone keeps telling me I need to update my blog or no one will look at it. So I'm updating, so you can all look. The real reason I haven't been on is because we MOVED into our new house, and internet was down for a while, and then I was (and still am) unpacking and then we started school (we home-school all summer too so we don't go insane) and THEN (see I am full of excuses) I didn't have any pictures of the house which is what everyone wanted to see. Well, I still don't. So you'll have to wait. But here are a few glimpses of why I love my kids.

Here we are in front of our new house for Halloween. I know, we are slightly behind! The theme was Peter Pan--Joseph was Peter, Gideon was Captain Hook, Samuel was Tiger Lion (Tiger Lily's brother) and I was a Lost Girl. Aaron was Moses. Yes, Moses. We're not sure how that all fits together but he wasn't interested in being John with a nightgown.

House Building

BUSY BUSY JULY!!!

Okay, we have had a busy month so far--the first day in July we had a BABY! Yes, Malachi Thomas Beutler was born July 1st, 8:02 p.m. here at our home in Preston. He weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. What a healthy baby, and the birth went really well. We used the Bradley and Hypnobirthing methods to focus during labor. He has been a wonderful addition to the family.

Then, on July 7th Gideon had his 5th birthday, complete with a cowboy party arranged by his Aunt M. What a good aunt!!

THEN on July 11th, we broke ground on our HOUSE in Dayton! Hurray! Things are finally moving along. July 12th was Joseph's 7th birthday! He had a wonderful Spiderman/Cowboy party arranged by his Grandma Carol. It was nice not to have to plan any birthday parties this year, as I had already had Malachi's "party" (aka Labor). So that sums up the month so far, but we still have Aaron's birthday to celebrate at the end of the month. HAPPY JULY EVERYONE!!

I've had several requests for pregnant photos, so here I am in all my glory--one of the beautiful beutlers. Well, actually, TWO if you think about it. We're hoping that the two will be seperated within the next few weeks. The other photo is our new house site. We think it is beautiful and peaceful. As you can see, there is not a house there yet. Use your imagination.

Ice Skating in Preston

Well, just to prove that it really is colder up here, I thought I'd show you the ice rink that Aaron created for the boys to play on--or maybe for HIM to play on! Right now it is gone, covered with a foot of snow. While it lasted though, it was pretty fun. Also, here is a picture of the "Preston House" where we live. We like it a lot here, especially when it is frozen and we can't smell the cows in the backyard!

Here you can see our little snow eating monster (Sam). He prefers to wear goggles in the snow to keep out snowballs! If only he ate more snow and less candy, perhaps we wouldn't have such high dental bills!

I'm blogging. It looked like fun--and I never manage to write in my journal anyways. We'll see if I have enough technical expertise to get it down. I think right now, I could just use this as a way to share all the messes that Sam gets in. Today, he filled up all his dump trucks/cement trucks with canned goods and placed it on the bathroom floor, ready to bake. If I can figure it out, I'll post a pic.
